Oil & Water

i have professed my love for austin and it's people many times and in many different ways. i believe it's the greatest city/town in america. a collective of its coolest people took it upon themselves to save the world - starting with the gulf coast. Hotel San Jose  and Jo's Coffee graciously hosted the Gulf Coast Disaster Relief benefit...for the entire city of Austin. Well, at least it seemed that way - WOW what a turnout! drool-worthy Pearla's and Lamberts served up a old-school seafood boil and cold beer - Papa Mali and the Lost Bayou Ramblers served up the jams. Nothing brings people together like food, dancing, beer and a really really good reason to be there. You know, like saving the world. On a semi-related note...i have observed over the past few years that dancing seems shake the happy out of people. It's the single greatest cure for stress, sadness, boredom, etc. etc. etc...and it's totally free. i LOVE to dance. and i really really love to watch people dance. after about a minute you can physically see the self-consciousness drain out of people and pure joy take over. it happens this way every time -  because dancing is stripped down basic FUN. there's a reason people have been doing it since the beginning of time. happy looks good on everyone - there is no risk of it ever going out of style. Here are some of my favorite snippits of happy from the evening of july 23rd - i hope you enjoy them a fraction as much as i did...
