Ellis Kate is the beautiful daughter of my beautiful cousin Katelyn and her awesome hubby Aaron. I was honored to have them ask that I come up and visit the new little munchkin and take some photos while I was there. We had what I would consider the perfect afternoon/evening hanging out at their fabulous home playing with dogs (Ollie and Thatcher) and new baby while listening to records. Yup, that right. It was totally perfect.
Early early morning sessions always turn out so great...maybe it doesn't feel that way when the alarm goes off before dawn, but there's a weird sense of accomplishment when you beat the sun to McKinney Falls Park. We had a lovely time exploring, running around and playing a game that involved throwing rocks into the water that little June made up as we went along. Biggest splash wins.
Aren't they the cutest trio?
This was one of my absolute favorite sessions ever ever ever. I met this wonderful family at their house, we caught up over a few cups of coffee and then I spent the rest of the morning hanging out and taking pictures of them going about their Saturday routine...a routine that included jumping on the bed, lounging in the yard and running around like super-heros. I learned from a very wise 3 year old that saying "Garbanzo Bean" works just as well as "Say Cheese" and is a million times funnier. This fam and I have a lot of things in common, including a shared love of mexican blankets, the same sense of humor, and the belief that the best moments in life are the ones that are imperfect and so totally human. They wanted a snippet of their life at that moment - all of it - the happy, the loud, the messy, the laughter, the snuggles. The result are images that are a window into the life of this sweet family the way they really are...which just happens to be pretty fantastic. So fantastic that I pretty much want them to adopt me - or at least let me come hang out, drink coffee and play super-heros on Saturday mornings.
oh my gosh. Baby Jack. this tiny newborn baby had a smile that could melt every heart within 100+ miles of Texas. He is quite the lucky little dude with two beautiful parents and two hilarious Bulldog siblings. There was a lot of cuddling, a lot of laughs over the A&M / North Carolina college rivalry between the parents, and some surprise art direction by Dad involving his baseball glove which was laughed off by Mom and myself (and then quickly became a reality - and that reality was amazing)...welcome to this new big world Baby Jack. We need more smiles like yours...
